Chinese-Speaking Therapist in London

Counselling and Psychotherapy in Cantonese and Mandarin

English, Cantonese, and Mandarin

Finding a therapist you can trust is hard enough.

Finding one you can speak to in your first language, one who understands your cultural background without explanation, is rare.

I offer counselling and psychotherapy in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

Serving Chinese-speaking individuals and families across London and internationally online.

Why Language Matters in Therapy

Emotional experience is deeply tied to language. Many people find that when discussing family, shame, grief, or trauma, their feelings are most accurately expressed in Cantonese or Mandarin and not in English. Switching languages mid-session can create distance from exactly the feelings we are trying to reach.

Working in your first language allows for greater emotional accuracy, deeper self-expression, and a more natural therapeutic relationship.

Culture & Context

Beyond language, therapy works best when your therapist understands the cultural context you grew up in. Concepts like family duty, face (面子), intergenerational expectations, immigration experience, and the pressures of living between two cultures are not things you should have to explain from scratch.

I grew up in Hong Kong, was educated in North America, and has lived across eight countries on four continents.

I brings firsthand understanding of the Chinese diaspora experience, the tension between cultures, the weight of family expectation, and the complexity of identity that many of her clients navigate.

Angie Wong

Before training in counselling, psychotherapy, and psychedelic practitioning, I spent the better part of my adult life travelling the globe, whilst leveraging my qualifications in commerce and trade.

Having grown up in Hong Kong, been educated in North America, and lived in eight different countries on four continents, I can confidently say that each of these life adventures, and all the joys and sorrows that go with them, have provided me with a unique perspective and the compassion to appreciate and accept the differences in individuals.
